Thinking back on Lindsey and Dylan’s wedding day, I don’t think it could have been any more perfect—especially for an August wedding in Nebraska. If you know Nebraska, you know just how hot and humid that time of year can be. But for some reason, the weather decided to show us a little grace. The temperature was just right, the humidity stayed low, the sun was shining, and love was definitely in the air!
The day started slowly, with both Lindsey and Dylan getting ready at the church where they would later say “I do.” The couple stayed separated until the ceremony, surrounded by their closest family and friends as they prepared for the day ahead.
After capturing all of the details and those special getting-ready moments, the bride shared a heartfelt first look with her father and brother. I swear, father-daughter first looks get me even more emotional than the couple’s first look! If you’re on the fence about doing a first look, I almost always say go for it. Lindsey and Dylan chose to save their first glimpse of each other for the aisle, but they still wanted to exchange private vows before the ceremony. We positioned them back-to-back so they could be close, hold hands, and share those intimate words without actually seeing each other. It was such a sweet compromise and created one of the most meaningful moments of the day.
The ceremony itself went beautifully. Plenty of happy tears were shed, and it all ended with a picture-perfect exit from the church in a classic getaway car. How classy is that white hot rod?
After the ceremony, we headed to Elmwood Park for family portraits, wedding party photos, and couples portraits. The sunken grotto at Elmwood Park is truly one of my favorite locations for Omaha wedding photography. The beautiful stonework and lush greenery create a timeless backdrop for wedding portraits, especially during golden hour.
Moments like these are also when having a second photographer really shines. While I photographed the bridesmaids, my second photographer captured the groomsmen at the same time, saving us around 20–30 minutes. It’s also invaluable to have a second perspective during wedding party photos, couples portraits, and those candid, behind-the-scenes moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Once portraits wrapped up, it was time to celebrate! The reception took place at The Pella, a stunning Omaha wedding venue located in the heart of the Blackstone District. From the fun and energetic wedding party entrances to heartfelt speeches from the dads and a dance floor full of questionable—but enthusiastic—dance moves, this reception was an absolute party.
As an Omaha wedding photographer, it’s always such an honor to document days like this—filled with meaningful moments, joyful celebrations, and the people who matter most. At the end of the day, I felt incredibly grateful to capture Lindsey and Dylan’s beautiful wedding celebration. They are truly some of the kindest, most genuine people, and it was a joy to document the beginning of this next chapter in their lives.
