I know, I know… I have a lot of catching up to do and I haven’t posted for a while but at least i’ve been busy! I am one to always say it is good to be busy because that means people want you and your making money! (to an extent that is…) Either way, i’m coming in hot with a lot of content to share over these coming winter months as photography season slows down.

This last weekend, I shot my last wedding of the 2024 year. And this year was packed, shooting 14 weddings between the end of April to the middle of November. That’s the most i’ve ever shot in a year so that is a win! But in the midst of shooting, traveling and maintaining my other job I did let my social presence slip. I haven’t shared any of my weddings from the year besides the first two. So I decided i’m going to start now and go back to the first one and share my highlights of each wedding chronologically.

I’m so excited to start sharing all my favorite images from my weddings because each wedding was so special and had unique and personalized aspects to each day.

So back to the beginning!

It was a VERY rainy and gloomy friday afternoon in April. And by rainy…I mean rainy. This was the day of the Omaha tornados that devastated areas in the west part of the city. I don’t want to associate devastation with this otherwise gorgeous day but it kinda plays into my story.

Lydia and Vince had a traditional latin mass that last about two hours and during these two hours is when all the storms happened. We were in this massive church close to downtown – far away from the western tornadoes but at the same time there actually was another tornado. There was a touchdown at the airport in which we were pretty close to but out of the way of any kind of danger. The best part is that no one in the church had any idea this was all going on. The weather alert system went off on several phones during the ceremony but we ignored them of course. The building itself was so thick that we hardly could hear rain and thunder.

Now, i’m deathly afraid of tornadoes but I weirdly felt really at peace. it definitely was the vibes of the church, thinking to myself – this is why we build these grandiose cathedrals. it’s hard not to feel at peace. You’re so small in this massive, ornate structure. I get it now. but nonetheless, once the ceremony was over, we congregated in the lobby because it was still downpouring outside. The sky was dark and the rain was unforgiving but after a few minutes it all let up. After family pictures inside, we actually were able to do some photos outdoors and the sun even made a slight appearance! After the ceremony, once I got back to my phone, I had about 20 text messages (even from friends in California) asking if i’m ok. At the time I was super confused as I had no idea what happen out west or at the airfield.

All this to say that love really does prevail! Come rain OR shine!

I absolutely loved capturing Lydia and Vince’s day. Everything from the cathedral veil to the cathedral itself, everything about the day was so classy, romantic, and moody and a testament to tradition, family, and love.
