When it comes to your wedding day, the one person who is going to be by your side constantly is your wedding photographer so why wouldn’t you pick someone you vibe well with?
The process of wedding planning can prove to be very overwhelming for most people and finding a wedding photographer in your desired style and budget could seem daunting. Besides the venue, your wedding photographer is one of your biggest choices. Your photos are one of the few things you’ll have to look back on to remember your day. A good photographer helps keep the day moving along, poses you, and is a fly on the wall capturing details and intimate moments.
While shopping around for your wedding photographer, make time to meet with them in person if possible. If it’s not possible to meet in person, set up a time to video chat. Honestly, if your photographer isn’t initiating a meeting – that could be a red flag! I always include my calendar to set up a meeting when a potential wedding client inquires.
Now, why is it important to meet in person? As I said before, your photographer is by your side the whole day! The best way to tell if you guys will get along is in that initial meeting. Not only bring a list of questions to your meeting but also assess their energy. How do you feel around them? Could you see yourself hanging out with them? Do your aesthetics, personalities, and visions align? Do you have similar work styles? Are they answering your questions effectively or are they beating around the bush?
A person can sound like a great fit through a screen but maybe not so much in person. All this considered, it’s very important to meet with any wedding photographer you are considering for your big day.
