Cici & Eddie’s Summer Engagement Photo Session at the Platte River State Park
When Cici and Eddie came to me and said they had a fun idea for their engagement session, I was already sat! If you know me, then you know I love something a little out of the box, a little different, and anything non-traditional!
So when they said they wanted fantasy, medieval, magical vibes—with Lord of the Rings as their inspiration—I immediately had a vision. We sat down before their engagement session to brainstorm outfits, locations, props, and the overall vibe. This is where Pinterest really became our friend. But even without it, I knew Cici needed a red cape.
Knowing my editing style, I knew that red cape against a green forest was going to POP. I hope you agree that I was right!
Eddie mentioned that his friend had a Lord of the Rings movie sword replica, so naturally, I made him text his friend right then and there to ask if we could borrow it. It was the icing on the cake. We HAD to have a sword.
I also knew I wanted to incorporate some kind of water feature, which reminded me of the beautiful little waterfall area at Platte River State Park. And since it’s only about a 30–45 minute drive from Omaha, it was definitely doable as our photoshoot location.
We met on a hot and humid July evening, but the sun was setting beautifully and the good vibes were in the air! We expected to have to share the space with other groups doing photos, but I didn’t expect everyone to be so incredibly nice and supportive of each other.
Everyone at the falls that night complimented Cici and Eddie’s outfits and even helped us out at certain points. It’s rare to have such a fun experience when sharing a space for photos, but it truly added to the whole experience. There really is something to be said about “Omaha nice.”
I spent an embarrassing amount of time editing this gallery because I kept going back and forth on colors and all the little details. But nonetheless, I’m incredibly happy with where the final gallery ended up—and even happier that Cici and Eddie LOVED their dreamy, fantasy-inspired engagement session!
