I don’t think i’ll ever stop talking about this wedding if that’s fine with everyone….But seriously, if you are going to get married, destination really is the answer. You can’t find a backdrop like this anywhere in Omaha!
I’m so honored to have been invited up to Anchorage this past spring to celebrate and capture the wedding day of Bridget and Zach. I literally had no idea what to expect visiting our 49th state but after leaving, I can say Alaska is a must visit state. I can imagine it’s MUCH much colder in winter, but the spring weather in April was absolutely perfect for us – even on the glacier.
We ventured to Matanuska Glacier State Recreational Site, which was about a two hour drive from Anchorage. But the journey wasn’t over when we parked. A tour guide lead us across a vast snowscape, winding hills and pathways. Finally, we ended up at the guides recommendation on where to do the ceremony and let’s just say she had a vision! Hiking to the spot, I had a death grip on my camera as I wanted to capture the trek out.
The couple was flanked by a couple close and adventurous friends as the wedding party and that’s it. An intimate elopement to say the least. After the ceremony, we wrapped up with pictures, headed back, and celebrated together with a small party at the couple’s home. Everyone swapped hilarious stories, ate cake, and were merry! We truly could not have asked for a better day!
Thank you to the beautiful tour guide who lead us to the special moments, the amazing wedding party, Stewarts Photo for a camera rental, and lastly, Bridget and Zach for accommodating and trusting me!
