Planning a wedding or booking a photo session comes with plenty of questions—and that’s a good thing! Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common ones, from booking and timelines to galleries and everything in between. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, don’t hesitate to reach out. General Booking Questions
How do we book our photography session or wedding?
Yay! I’m so excited you’re here. The first step is filling out my contact form. I’ll get back to you with my availability and answer any questions you have. Once you’re ready to move forward, I’ll send over your contract and invoice for the retainer. Once those are completed, your date is officially on my calendar!
How far in advance should we book?
The sooner, the better! Most couples book their wedding photography 8–18 months in advance, while portrait sessions are typically booked 1–3 months ahead. If you’re planning for peak fall dates or a popular wedding weekend, I recommend reaching out as early as possible.
Do you require a retainer?
Yes! A non-refundable retainer and signed contract are required to reserve your date. Because I only book a limited number of sessions and weddings, your date isn’t officially secured until both are received.
Do you offer payment plans?
Absolutely! Wedding collections can be split into multiple payments leading up to your wedding day, making budgeting a little easier. Portrait sessions are due before your session date.
Do you travel for weddings and sessions?
Absolutely! While I’m based in Nebraska, I love photographing couples wherever their story takes them. Whether you’re planning a destination wedding, an intimate elopement, or a session in your favorite place, I’d love to hear about it.
Do you charge travel fees for weddings and photography sessions?
Travel within my included service area is covered in my collections. For weddings or sessions outside that area, a travel fee may apply depending on the location. I’ll always provide a custom quote upfront, so there are no surprises. Whether your dream location is across Nebraska or across the country, I’m happy to travel wherever your story takes me!
What happens if I need to reschedule or cancel?
Life happens and mother nature can be a bitch. If we need to reschedule, just contact me and we will set a new date. Easy.
If you need to cancel your session, you will not recieve your deposit back as it is non-refundable but if you’ve paid more, than I will pay you back for that amount.
Wedding Day Questions
Do you help us create our wedding day timeline?
Yes! One of my favorite parts of the planning process is helping couples build a photography timeline that keeps the day flowing smoothly while allowing plenty of time for beautiful, stress-free portraits.
Have you photographed at our venue before?
Maybe! But if not, that’s okay. I always arrive early to scout locations, find the best lighting, and make a plan for portraits. Every wedding day is unique, and I’m always excited to photograph somewhere new.
What happens if it rains?
Rain happens—but that doesn’t mean your photos won’t be beautiful. I’ll work with you to find covered locations, embrace the mood if you’re up for it, and adjust our plans as needed. Some of my favorite wedding images have happened in less-than-perfect weather.
Family Session Questions
What if my kids don't cooperate?
Honestly? That’s okay. Kids are kids, and I don’t expect them to sit still, smile on command, or suddenly become professional models for an hour. I use movement, games, prompts, and plenty of patience to keep things relaxed and fun. Sometimes the “uncooperative” moments end up being the best photos anyway. And if we need to take a snack break, have a little reset, or let them run around for a minute, we roll with it. There is no perfect family session—and that’s kind of the point.
Where do family sessions take place?
Wherever feels like you! I photograph families throughout Omaha and the surrounding area, from favorite parks and outdoor spaces to meaningful locations that are part of your family’s story. We’ll choose a location based on the look you’re going for, your family’s personality, and what will make everyone feel most comfortable. Not sure where to go? Don’t worry—I have plenty of favorite spots and recommendations to share.
Do you photograph extended families?
Absolutely! Extended family sessions are welcome. Whether you’re getting everyone together for a milestone, a family reunion, or simply because it’s been way too long since everyone has been in one place, we can make it happen. I’ll make sure we capture the whole crew, smaller family groupings, and all those little interactions in between.
If you are wanting to book a large/extended family session (8+ people), please let me know at the time of booking. This session will automatically be considered the Large Family Session Package.
Can we bring our dog?
Yes. Please bring the dog. 🐶
Pets are part of the family too, and I’m always happy to include them in your session. Just let me know ahead of time so we can choose a location that’s pet-friendly and plan accordingly. And if your dog spends half the session running in circles instead of looking at the camera, don’t worry—we’ll probably get some great photos out of that, too.
Do you offer in-home family sessions?
Absolutely! In-home sessions are one of my favorite ways to document families because there’s something so special about photographing you exactly where life happens. I can capture sweet morning snuggles, exciting story time, kitchen dance parties, tiny details around your home, and all the everyday moments that make this season yours. Your home doesn’t need to look like it belongs in a magazine, either. It’s your home, and that’s what makes it meaningful.
In-home sessions are also great for cold-weather months!
Portrait Session Questions
What should we wear for our session?
Don’t worry—I won’t leave you guessing! Every client receives a style guide filled with tips on choosing outfits that photograph beautifully while still feeling like you. If you’re between a couple of options, I’m always happy to help you decide.
Where should we take our photos?
I have a list of favorite locations and can recommend spots based on the vibe you’re envisioning—whether that’s downtown, open fields, lakeside, cozy urban streets, or somewhere meaningful to you. If you have a location in mind, I’m always open to new ideas!
What if we're awkward in front of the camera?
You’re in good company—almost everyone says this! My job isn’t to make you pose like models. Instead, I’ll guide you through natural prompts and movement so your photos feel genuine, relaxed, and full of real connection. Most clients tell me they ended up having way more fun than they expected.
Photo & Delivery Questions
How long does it take to receive our photos?
Portrait galleries are typically delivered within 2–3 weeks, while wedding galleries are delivered within 8–10 weeks. I’ll also send a few sneak peeks shortly after your session or wedding because I know waiting is the hardest part!
How many photos will we receive?
Every gallery is unique because every story is different. Rather than limiting the number of images, I carefully hand-edit all of the best moments and deliver everything that meets my quality standards.
Will our photos be edited?
Yes! Every image you receive is professionally edited to match my signature style. This includes color correction, exposure adjustments, and light retouching where appropriate so your gallery looks polished and timeless.
Can we print our photos?
Absolutely! Your online gallery makes it easy to download, share, and order professional-quality prints and artwork that will last for years to come.
